Laura White Barton provided strategic direction and oversight of Melinda Gates’s speeches, and supported her at various speaking engagements while serving as the editorial and web manager for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in its early years. Laura directed international advocacy campaigns at World Vision, and led the communication of the U.S. humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan at the White House Office of Global Communications in the wake of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Laura is a past board member of the Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation and serves on the Idaho advisory committee of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition. She is a member of the Boise Committee on Foreign Relations and a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Alumni Ambassador. She enjoys playing tennis, skiing, horseback riding, and raising her four beloved children.
